About Almonds

The Almond is a very attractive and healthy nut. It can be used for many different applications. Almonds are for instance very popular as a snack (just roasted and salted, smokehouse or in a mix with other nuts and seeds) but are also being used in the different industries like the bakery industry and the ice cream and confectionary industry.

Origins / Growing areas

The major production area of Almonds is the USA. The 2nd largest origin is Spain. Beside these two origins, Almonds are also grown in Australia, Italy, Greece and in a limited way in other Mediterranean countries and some Middle Eastern countries.

Grades / Varieties

USA: 16/18, 18/20, 20/22, 23/25, 24/26, 27/30, 30/32 etc. pieces per ounce.

Spain: 18/20, 20/22, 23/25, 24/26, 28/30, 30/32 pieces per ounce.

From both origins, one can order natural almonds as well as blanched.
For industrial usage, Almonds can also be supplied from those origins as diced/sliced/slivered, natural and/or blanched, according buyers specification.

Harvest times / Shipment times

Harvest of Almonds in USA is during August/September.

Spanish Almonds are harvested during September/October.

Packing

USA: Natural Almonds : in cartons of 50 lbs net or in bins of 2200 lbs.
Blanched Almonds: in cartons of 50 or 25 lbs.
Spain: Cartons of 12,5 or 25 kg net.
