Macadamias June 18, 2026

The macadamia market continues to move through the core trading period, with steady activity across regions. EU retail tenders have largely been concluded in recent weeks, providing a clearer base level of demand, while activity in the United States is showing some improvement, which is a positive signal for the global market.
The 2026 crop is expected to be larger across all major origins, with harvesting now well underway. Early indications remain positive. In South Africa, some pressure from weather and insect activity has been noted in the northern areas, while the southern regions are reporting good quality and sizing, supporting overall availability.
The NIS market shows encouraging developments. While there is sufficient availability of lower SKR material—particularly from China, there is also strong demand for higher-quality segments that are not locally available. It is notable that Chinese buyers are actively present in the South African market, supporting trade flows. Current pricing levels remain attractive, which should further stimulate demand, especially given that other tree nuts such as pistachios, almonds and pecans continue to trade at relatively higher levels.
In line with recent communication from the World Macadamia Organization, there is a continued focus on market development and demand growth, particularly in kernel applications and new product formats.
While pricing has seen some pressure in recent weeks, this also creates clear opportunities for buyers and market participants to position themselves, with macadamias offering strong value compared to other tree nuts and supporting further demand development in the period ahead.
