The harvest of the Turkish hazelnut crop finished end of last month. Now the crop is in, is the course of the market is now up to the moves of TMO, the largest user and the ‘rest’ of the market again. It remains unclear up to which volume and timeframe the TMO will be open for new appointments, most expect them to stay in at least until the end of October. Although this was a logical move for some farmers at the start of the harvest, is the market now recovering to levels at which the ‘open market’ is getting more attractive. This situation, in combination with a lack of more competitive offers from alternative origins, should help Turkey to keep the market stable / firm for the moment.
