The almond market remains a very interesting market with the majority of supply coming from California. Although California is only slightly bigger than Germany, it is still very hard to get a correct crop forecast. The forecast differs from 2.6-3.0 billion pounds, i.e. 15% difference between low and high estimate. With all the current new techniques and software, mother nature still surprises us in just a couple of weeks/months……or are there other reasons? With the crop coming in, sellers are flooded with almonds and want to sell. Current sales are slightly behind previous years but with the festival seasons coming up, it is expected that the coming months will be good. The slightly lower prices stimulated demand as well.
