| Most of the crop is in now and the total quantity is down in comparison with last year as you can see in the figure enclosed. This is having an impact on kernel availability. Usually the NIS (Nuts Inshell) contracts are booked before most of the kernel contracts. As the downsized crops only became known upon crop receipt, the quantity available for processing came down and less kernels available. As sales of ingredients Styles to US remain slow due to the uncertainty on import tariffs which can change on very short notice, it helps the processors for those particular Styles. The snacking Styles are a different story and available quantities for sale are limited (especially wholes and bigger halves). We therefore recommend to cover all your requirements for those snacking Styles as new (2026) crop only will be available for shipment during middle of 2026, i.e. 9-10 months from now. As South Africa needs to be competitive with the other producing/processing origins for the US market, you might be able to find offers for ingredient Styles which are lower than the other producing origins.
