After a short, but quick, fall of pricing last month, seems the Turkish hazelnut market to move towards higher levels again. Rumors are spread about the crop estimate of the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture, which say that their estimate will be roughly 5% lower than the 620.000 estimate which was released earlier by the Turkish Exporters Union. Since the market was already moving on a very thin line, is the impact of such rumors directly visible in terms of availability. In the meantime there is no clarity on the buying prices of the TMO for the coming crop yet, which could now float upwards with the rising tide in the current market as well. Looking at last year, when TMO’s buying prices were released in week 30, there is a serious potential for this fear to be justified anytime soon by TMO.
