Prices for cashewnutkernels are moving up, especially for the sizes 240 and bigger. Sharp price increases on especially the bigger sizes are due to increasing interest from Middle East and Asian countries. Availability of bigger sized kernels is limited and hopefully the Cambodian crop in February/March will give some relief on this.
Prices for RCN in Tanzania remain very firm (Usd1750-1780 per mton) and current kernel prices are not making sense for those RCN prices (kernel prices are too cheap and processors cannot make a margin). Most of the Tanzanian RCN will be exported to India as there domestic market is paying higher prices for kernels and pieces in particular.
How much RCN is available for processing -before new crop from Vietnam/Cambodia is coming in- is a bit of a questionmark. Vietnamese processors are not very eager to add contracts and busy processing current commitments. From Africa we have some beautiful product available on request.
