Brazilnuts October 10, 2025

It’s been a extreme year for Brazil nuts. Prices shot up to near 2017 levels after a major drop in production, mostly due to last year’s extreme drought and fires in the Amazon. The 2025 crop came in small, with more tiny kernels and hardly any Mediums or Larges. Most factories closed months early.
Some buyers hit pause, worried about sky-high prices or not getting product at all. Others kept going and found demand stayed steady despite the high prices.
Looking ahead, there’s hope the trees bounce back with a big 2026 crop. High prices will get collectors back in the forest early once the rains start, and factories are ready to process again.
Raw material prices are still up in the air, what collectors want vs what factories can pay are miles apart. Bolivia’s elections on 19th October should give a clearer picture of what’s next for the economy and the Brazil nut market
