Macadamia November 1, 2019

For macadamias growth is something that one would expect knowing the number of trees that are in the ground in various parts of the world. The reality for this season however is different as the latest news from China is stating that their crop is “only” 22.000 mton instead of the estimated 30.000 mton. After disappointing crop news from Australia and Kenia this means we are looking at a decrease of 5% in total supply of macadamias for this season. Only South Africa is performing a decent crop and could possibly improve the figures slightly as it looks they may hit the 60.000 mton mark.
From a demand side we have seen strong demand of NIS over the last months, but it was a bit slow on kernels. This is now slowly changing with demand from various directions and some business conducted again. As such we keep our recommendation not to sit back and wait, but make certain you are covered till new crop.
